AUCTION SALES

Messrs. J. H. Bethune and Co. will sell furniture on Tuesday next, at 2 p.m., at Konini-street, Muritai. On Wednesday at 2.30, at their rooms, they will submit two properties, Nos. 23 ana 25, Aurorastreet, Petone, containing four and five rooms respectively; also No. 60, Glenroad, Kelburn, a 6-roomed residence. The death in action took place on 15th inst. of Joseph Cullimore Euddle, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ruddle, of Jessie-street, Wellington. Deceased i«as horn in Timaru, and finished his education at Picton. He was employed at C. M. Banks, Ltd., before he enlisted, at the age of 18, but was not allowed to leave until the departure of the 29th Reinforcement. , Mr. Ruddle's ' only other son, William, left with the 14th Artillery Reinforcements, was wounded, and returned to New Zealand in January last.

Sergeant A. M'Kay (killed in action) was a son Mrs.. M'Kay, of Lincolnroad, Masterton.

An "In Memorium" service for the late Lieutenant Makeham will be held in tho Baptist Church, Brooklyn, to-morrow evening.

Mr. J. Gordon Smith, who is proceeding abroad as a V.M.C.A. field secretary, will bo the speaker at the V.M.C.A. men's meeting in the rooms, Willis-street, on Sunday, at 4 p.m.
