OLD NAVAL RIFLE CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Old Naval Defence Rifle Club was held in the Boating Society's rooms, when there, was a fair'muster of members.
The annual report and balance-sheet dealt at length with the. doings of the club last sea-son, and showed that, by. a friendly arrangement with the Suburbs Club, all matches were fired on the Miramar range, the club members being heartily welcomed by the Suburbs members. : ■'.'..
The prize ..list included trophies from the following gentlemen:—Colonel John Duncan, Colonel C. Cooper, Major E. Davy, Lieutenant Denniston, the late Sir C. J. Johnston, Captain E. D. Bell, Messrs. L. M. Morice, A. Moore, A. L. Johnson, C. C. Odlin, C. Hodder, and Rifleman R. C. Collins. Since the outbreak of the war neai'ly 50 per cent, of the club's original members had gone to the' front. , , The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. J. Rabe: deputy president, Mr. W. Harris ; hon. secretary, Mr. F. E. Franklyn; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. Alexander; lommittoe, Messrs. R. Pringle, T. Dell, R. Sneddon. F. Standidge. and R. C. Collins; auditor, Mr. J. Clayden; handicapper, Mr. R. Sneddon.
Members unanimously decided that the cash value of all prizes competed for during the, coming season be ajrain handed to some patriotic society. Last season the club handed over £9 odd to the Return°d Soldiers' Club House Society Fund. . .
The club hones to open its season's shooting about sth October.
