Playing billiards for money was stated to be the cause of the trouble of a youth who appeared at the Magistrate's Court, Christchurch, on twelve charges of failing to account for small sums of money. Mr. Cassidy said that the money would be refunded, and that the young man, who was 19^ years of age, was'prepared to enlist. The Magistrate ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon, it being understood that he would not be called upon if lie enlisted. An order was also made that the money stolen should be refunded within a week.
