THE OUTLOOK TOWARDS METZ
{AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 14th September, 5 p.m. <
The Americans are seventeen miles from Metz and ten from the outer fortifications, but it must be understood that the advance is not directed against that fortress. The enemy is readjusting his line north of the old St. Mihie! salient, and is retiring on a front of seven miles between Bezonvaux and Chatillon. French patrols are in contact with him.
