■Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., considered a. claim, made by E..,H.-Janson, plumber, of 9, Broomhedge-street,' Wellington, for the recovery of £16 19s 9d fromSMrsl .L. Gain, confectioner, o£ Manners-street, in.,regard, to plumbing, work, mainly in connection with the shifting and Betting up-of a. soda, fountain to a, new position. In reviewing the evidence,' which was uomewhat contradictory, the Magistrate said thai the charge made for the removing of the fountain 'was: not, in his opinion, unreasonable. The defendant had stated that the plaintiff had not giveff a' definite price', but' Rafter a, cursOry; examination of the premises before the work was' undertaken had agreed to "keep it under £10." There was, however, no written evidence of a contract, and even the final charge was consilerably under the estimate given by a plumber called in previously. Judgment, was given for the .amount claimed, with costs amounting to £3 5s 6d. Plaintiff was represented by Mr. G. G. Watson, and Mr. Alex. Dunn appeared for the defendant.

Annie Biggs proceeded against Harry' Hurcomb for the sum of £3 wlss and possession of a tenement. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, together with possession and costs 10s.

Stephen Hope' Reid was ordered to pay jVilliam Simmons £10 13s, with costs £2 Bs, and to deliver up possession 'of a' tenement by 4th September.
