TERRITORIAL OFFICERS
GRANTED COMMISSIONS IN CAMP.
A number of Territorial officers whose cases were- affected by the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court recently— respecting a Territorial officer's right to commissioned rank in the Expeditionary Force—have now been granted commissions in camp as .second lieutenants. The officers concerned were- called upon to enter camp in- a. special officers' training class, as n.c.o.'s, and those who proved most efficient have been posted to. reinforcements witli commissions, according to the number of vacancies occurring. Others for whom there were no vacancies will leave as n.c.o.'s. It has happened that there have been more vacancies for Territorials lately than would Lave been the case in ordinary circumstances, as the plumber of men returning from the front for commissions has not been so large. It cannot be stated with certainty, however, that this position will continue, as more active service men n\Hf- be returned in tho future. In any case, the Territorial officers concerned have been posted as second lieutenants only, though some of them ranked as lieutenants, captains, and majors with the home forces.
