NAVAL AIR FORCE OVER BELGIUM

LONDON, 17th, August, 1 a.m,

Tho Admiralty reports: Between Bth and 15th August our air force dropped, sixty tons of bombs on Zeebrugge, the Ostend docks, the Varssenaere aerodrome, the Brugeoise works, Bruges docks, Blankenberghe and Middelkerke, also on many enemy batteries and billets. As a result of the Varssenaere attack, we set fire to six aeroplanes and hangars. We hit two Gotha. hangars, one of which, was demolished, and also fired large petrol dumps. We successfully attacked enemy skipping, directly hitting a destroyer. A big explosion was observed. Later we destroyed sixteen aeroplanes and drove down fifteen. Three British machines have not returned.
