CHRISTCHURCH, 17th August. The Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National Meeting was concluded to-day in fine weather. The sum of £&J,2U passed through the machine, making £127,615 for the meeting, as compared with £106,796 last year. Balance of results :—

Spreydon Hurdles, of. 200 soys; one mile and three-quarters—s Seville, 9.0 (E. Warner), 1; 3 Tornea, 10.6, 2; 7 Rose Blush, 9.0, 3. Also started—l Wishful 12.2, 4 Hylans 11.8, 2 Master Boris 9.13, 6 St. Cletus 9.0. Hylans and Tornea put a big break on the field, and raced together to the last fence, where Hylans fell. Wishful fell a mile from home. In the straight Seville put in his claim, and won comfortably by three lengths. Rose Blush was a poor third. Time, 3min 20 3-ssec.

Once over the last Pence, Kauri King, who took third place at the bend, ran to the front and won in nice style by nearly two lengths from Fisher, who was half a length in front of Art, with Luff close up fourth. Woolston Handicap, of 200 soys; six furlongs—s Jingo, 9.7 (J. O'Shea), 1; 3 Ibex, 11.9, 2; 10 Bomb, 9.3, 3. Also started—ll Phil May 10.9, 7 Fleetham 10.9, 2 Royal Prince 10.7, 8 Silver and Black 10.1, 12 Missouri 9.13, 4 Piano 9.13, 1 Omahu 9.8, 9 Derby Day 9.8, 15 War Tax 9.4, 6 Moorabbe 9.1, 13 Melford 9.0, 14 The Sapper 9.0, 16.Hytem 9.0. Jingo was first away, and was never headed, winning by two lengths from Ibex, who was half a length in front of Bomb, with Missouri fourth. Time, tain 15 3-ssec.

Islington Handicap, of 250 soys; one mile and a quarter—3 Thaddeus, 9.5 (C. Emerson), 1; 11 Kiltess, 9.0, 2; 7 Adjutant, 10.9, 3. Also started—l Bedford 10.1, 2 John Barleycorn 10.4, 4 Lady Louisa 9.9, 9 Sir Agnes 9.2, 8 Majestikoff 9.0. 6 Hastie 9.0, 5 Leaping Burn 9.0, 12 Hiero 9.0, 13' Good Hope 9.0, 10 Warmth 9.0. Won by two lengths. A close third. Time, 2min 10 3-ssec.
