MEN FROM DORSET
The seventh annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Dorset. Men Beyond the [Seas was held last week. The following were elected officers for the ensuing year: President, Mr. H. M. Hayward (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs. E. A. Weld, F. Parsons, and J. Hiscock (re-elected), E. Mace, J. R. Cornish, and H. J. Poole; chairman, Mr. C. B. Dement (re-elected); hon. secretary, Mr. Harry S. Moore (re-elected); hon. treasurer, Mr. E>. Mace (re-elected); hon. auditor, Mr. J. R. Cornish (re-elected) j committee, Messrs.. W. S. Brown, X S. Brown, Cornish, Hiscock, Poolo, Trim, and Roper.
The annual report which was adopted, stated that during the- year the society had lost six members through death, five had returned, and six new members had joined. The Eev. 0. M. Stcnt (Broadstone) is now settled. down at the Vicarage, Eastbourne, Wellington. Superintendent S. P. Norwood (Weymouth) is now in charge of Wellington District. The report congratulated him on his promotion,; also Mr. T. B. Smith, (Beaminster), promoted principal and m charge at Cape Maria Van Diemen Lighthouse. Private W. Barnett, 3rd Keinforcemente (Sturminster, Newton), returned Q.M.S., is leaving again with the 42nd Reinforcements. Corporal J. E. Day (East Gore), now lieutenant, has lately been wounded. Sergeant and Corporal Budden (Otorohanga), V. Jeffery (Whangarei), F. and H. Wood (Aka Alia, Waiku), all returned invalided. Major W. C. Hartgill, R.A.M.C, was presented by the King with the M.O. for distinguished* condtict in the field.
