THAT "INFLEXIBLE DETERMINATION" RESOLUTION. AMENDED AT FEILDING, ALSO, AND GOD'S HELP INVOKED. IN the columns of this Journal on Saturday last, special reference was made to tho fact that tho Resolution sent out by our Acting-Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government, to bo submitted to public meetings of citizens on Monday, sth inst., contained no i-eference whatever to God, and our dependence on Him. Tho fact, however, 'was- recorded with thankfulness that a fine example had been sot at Timaru in amending it by the addition of the words, "With the help of God," in which form it was carried unanimously. Tho wish was also expressed that it had been similarly amended throughout the Dominion, and elsewhore. Timaru, however, was the only place wo saw mentioned in Press Association telegrams, or otherwise, as having made such an amendment. We are, however, very thankful to since learn that at Feilding also tho Resolution was amended before being submitted to the meeting by the addition of tho words, "BY GOD'S HELP," and read aa follows: — "That on this the fourth anniversary of the declaration, of a righteous war, this meeting of tho citizens of Feilding and the Oroua County records its inflexible determination, by God's help, to continue to a victorious end the struggle in maintenance of those ideals of Liberty and Justice which are the common ■ and sacred cause of the Allies"; And in tho amended form was carried unanimously and with enthusiasm. Thank God for tho fine cxamplo set by tho citizens of Feilding and Oroua County, also, in this connection, and wo are pleased to give it equal prominence with Timaru. Wo are glad indeed to know that at these two places, at any rate, in this Dominion, the citizens recognised that in the form sent out by our ActingPrime Minister the resolution was lacking in the most essential particular, viz., the recognition of God and of our dependence on Him, and were not deterred by the fact that it was a Government Resolution (Imperial, or otherwise), from doing all in their power to rectify the omission before it was read and voted upon, by tho amendment already referred to. Should God in His wisdom permit the present great war to continue for a further twelve months, we trust that any future resolutions issued by tho Government mil not bo "Godless" ones. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." . . "Ho makoth wars to coaso." —(Psalm 46). TUESDAY, 27th AUGUST, 1918, At 2.30 p.m. IN THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
