ENEMY ATTACKS DEFEAED

LONDON, 16th August. An Italian communique states : Our fire yesterday repulsed strong enemy actions in the Tonale region. 'On Wednesday night enemy detachments three times attacked our garrison on the islet in the Piave, mentioned yesterday, but were driven back with heavy losses.
