A NATIVE CAUSES EXCITEMENT
(BS TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
WANGANUI, 15th August. An elderly Native, Poro Konu Te Patu, ran amuck early this morning. He visited the residence of a settler, Mr. P. M'Williams, three miles from the town, at 5 o'clock. There he smashed all the windows in the house, and did other damage amounting to £50, after which he went to a neighbour's and attacked the owner. The Tatter's son, who was near by, defended his father with a spade, knocking down the Native, whose hands were tied to prevent further trouble.
The Native was taken to the hospital, but is not badly hurt.
