SUBMARINES AND INSURANCE
As a. result of cable advicea received from London, the Marine Underwriters of New Zealand have declared a war rate of 2 per cent, in force on all outward and Homeward bound steamers to the Atlantic coast of the United States and Canada, via Panama Canal. This is an advance of 1 per cent, on the previously ruling rate. The rates for the Pacific are unchanged. Enemy's submarine activities in the North Atlantic explain the rise in the rat© of marine insurance as above notified.
