HANDS ACROSS THE PACIFIC
A meeting of representative city men was held this morning, presided over by the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke, C.M.G., M.P.), to consider the question of forming a Hands Across the Pacific Club, the object being to use- every endeavour to prevent the return to Germany after the war of her colonies in the South Pacific. It was decided to form such a club, with the following officers : — President, the Mayor; vice-presidents, Messrs. Harold Beauchamp and G. Shirtcliffe; secretary, Mr. A. W. Ackland. The secretary was instructed to get into touch with the other branches of the .club which have been formed af. Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Australia, and Honolulu, in order that cooperation in representation and eflx't may be obtained.
