IS IT A RECORD ?
Sir, —With all due respect to Mr. Bates and his instruments and his records, I beg to challenge his statement that more snow fell in the storm on 3rd and 4th of August, 1904, than fell on the 21st and 22nd of July this year. I have been in Wellington for over 40 years! and have made a study of the weather. This last storm, I must say, is a record for Wellington in the way of snow, just like the other places your paper reports records. Many old identities to whom I have spoken agree with me.—l am, etc., EECORD. 25th July. ■
