COAL IMPORTS
Tho following table shows tlio coal statistics of the Port of Wellington for' fclie past two years, and for tho nine months ending 30th June last:— Periods —Ist October to 30th September. Coal passing over wharves and paying wharfage, 1915-1916, 180,257 tons; 1916-1917. 176,172 tons; nine months, 1918, ending 30th June, 94,190 tons. Coal for Government use passing over wharves and exempt from wharfage, 61,282 tons; 78,177 tons; 50,600 tons. Coal transhipped overside from vesg-eJ to vessel at wharves, 286,062 tons; 229,522 tons; 170,618 tons. Coal transhipped overside from vessel to vessel in .stream, 6409 tons; 7517
tons; 2899 lons. Totals, 634,0X0 tolls; 101,388 tans ; 318,307 tews.
