MUFTI ALLOWANCE
': Instructions with respect to the payment of the increased mufti allowance of £5 5s have now been issued by the Director of- Equipment and Ordnance Stores (Major T. M'Crystall) to the various group officers. All men who arrived in the Dominion prior to 20t!i July, and are still undischarged, and all men who have been discharged since Ist June, and who received 30s only, will make application for the five guineas warrant and the £3 15s respectively direct to the Director of Base R-ecords, Wellington, who will issue instructions for return of clothing after examining clothing cards of the men. With arrivals subsequent to 20th July,. the extra suit of uniform—if an extra suit is. in possession of the soldiei-, will be withdrawn previous to disembarkation on arrival in New Zealand. The soldier will retain his greatcoat until application is made for the clothing warrant. Such application must be ,made within five weeks of the date of receipt of notice of discharge. The soldier will return his greatcoat to the nearest group office, either personally or by post (postage prepaid), together with his notice of • discharge, and the Group Commander will then issue the clothing warrant, for £5 ss, bearing currency for one month from date of issue. In the event of the greatcoat and second suit of uniform (where issued) not- being returned, three-fourths of the original value will, be charged for each article, viz., -greatcoat £2 0s 6d, jacket SI 3s 4d, trousers 14s. pantaloons 18s 2d. The Group Commander will not issue a warrant where the greatcoat is not handed in, but will direct the soldier to submit his application te the ofltcer-in-charge. War Expenses Branch, Wellington, for a clothing warrant covering the amount due.
