LIKE THE CAMBRAI SUCCESS
CURIOUS DUPLEX OPERATION. (FDBLISBBD IN THE TIMES.) "^- (Received July 20, 2.30 p.ni.) , PARIS, 19th July. General Mangin commanded the new attack, which was directed against the whole right flank of the German airmy, upon the left side of the right angle Formed by the German advance to Chateau Thierry. The operations resemble the first Cambrai success in the using of tanks instead of a bombardment, and the infantry advanced under a scientific creeping barrage. The, French from Soissons to Chateau Thierry are fighting with their faces to the eastward, while the Germans from Chateau Thierry to Chatillon are fighting towards the south'. The French are endeavouring to carry out operations like those which the Germans are endeavour^ ing to push to a conclusion between Reims and Epernay. Each side is trying to flatten out an isosceles'triangle. The latest information is that the German push is held, while General Mangin is still making progress.
