MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL

A meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening. The Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend) was in the chair, a.nd there were . a.lsO' present Councillors S. H. Underwood, M.-Tracy, W. H. Green, C. A. Chapman, and H. K. Robertshaw.

The Hon G. W. Russell wrote informing the council that he was satisfied, after the explanation that had beea given at the recent conference in regard to the increased Hospital and Charitable Aid Board levy, \ that it was necessary to appoint a commissioner. He intimated that he had approved of the estimates of the board for the current year.

It was decided to bear half the cost of extending a sewer to allow a resident of Matai-street, who had been burnt out, to connect his drainage to the sewer.
