About three o'clock this afternoon a peculiar looking object—presumably a whaler-was sighted at the Heads. It appeared to be entering the harbour. Much of the loss in. tho ship output is duo to weariness, through long 1 hours and lack of sustainingl foodstuffs, and not. slackening in patriotism, holde Mr. Spencc, corresponding secretary of tho National Union of Labour. Mr. A. T. Trendlo will sell at the Central Auction Rooms, 53. Cuba-street, at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow, safe, piano, fihniture, etc. The contents of 5 rooms will bo sold at 168, Riddiford-street, on Saturday at 2 p.m.
