The French, schooner La Curieuse, which left Sydney on the 19th April, and returned to port two days later, and subsequently resumed her royage again on the 12th May for Papeete (Tahiti) has not reached her destination (reports Sydney Shipping List of the 10th July). The iLa Curieuse should have made the trip in 18 or 20 days. No tidings of the vessel, lowever, have come to hand since she left Sydney, and consequently it is feared that she has been lost. Before the war the La Durieuse was fitted out by voluntary subscriptions by the Geographical Society of ■ Paris for i scientific expedition.'in the' Pacific. v.Sbe arrived in Sydney on the loth October, 191C V but the expedition was abandoned owing to tha' war. The vessel was eventually sold in Sydney, and was again fitted out as a.- cargo carrier, and under charge of Captain Brisson left Sydney with a, general cargo for Papeete , A LENGTHY TRIP.. Leaving Melbourne on the 28th June; the Montauk arrived in Sydney on; Sunday week,thus making a run of eight days round the coast .. - - -• , The Government steamer Hinemoa, which returned to port yesterday afternoon from Cook Strait, had not quite finished her work there. This morning the vessel left for Karori Rock lieacon, Pencarrow lighthouse, and ' Somes Island. Providing the weather is favourable, the vessel will also run round to Kahurangi Point. The Orepuki is to leave Lyttelton to-day for Wellington and Greymouth. The vessel is due at this port to-morrow morning, and will sail in the evening for the West Coast port. In addition to general cargo-she has. on board a locomotive engine for WellingtonWith a full load of titmed rabbits on board, the auxiliary schooner May Howard*is.due*at Wellington to-morrow from Invercargill, which port she left nn Friday last.
