Giving evidence before the First Wellington Military Service Board to-day, Mr. G. Allport (Secretary Marine De.partment) stated that there were at present twelve vacancies in the lighthouse staff. Not only had tho Department boon quite unable to fill the vacancies, but they had found much difficulty in getting even temporary men to carry on the work.
