GOLD PRODUCTION
CAUSE OP THE DECREASE.
LONDON, 14th July. Sir Lionel Phillips, a member of the Gold Committee, states that the decrease in the gold-prodlictkiri is mainly due to the unfair system by which producers are paid at the pre-war rate, which does not now suffice to procure the same amount of the commodity. He does not advocate any change in the standard price of gold, but the loss in production
ought to be made Tip in other ways. Otherwise he foresees a serious decrease.
