COUNTRY GROCERS' DISPUTE

The 'Application for an award made h; the Wellington Grocers' Assistants Unioi, on 1 behalf of country workers has been conceded by tlic employers concerned, aim the Conciliation Council has concluded sittings in Napier, Wangamjj. and Palmerston North. My. W. Newton presided ovor the council sittings, and the assessors for the union wore Messrs. R. M'Koon (secretary), A. W. Croskory, and J. H. Mortenson (Auckland). Mr. W. P. Mitchell (Palmersion Xorth), with two'~othcr assessors chosen in each centre, represented the employers at each sitting. An agreement was arrived at on practically every elauso with tho exception o£ those dealing with wages. Thefib. were left to the court. Tho conditions are substantially the same as tho66 ruling in Wellington now. The proportion of youths agreed upon is ons to two during tho period of tho war, and ono to threo afterwards. Tho t-erm of the award will bo for two years.
