BOYS' INSTITUTE

On Saturday evening last a successful pound packet night was held by the Boys' Institute Scouts in their social hall,- nearly 100 being present. ' A very good programme was gone through, those contributing being Scouts Humphrey and A. Hines, Mr. Norman Bing, and Mr.' Burton, who^gaye an interesting address on the Zeebrugge Naval Raid. Scoutmaster E. Roderiquo also contributed. A part song, "Coming Home," was rendered by Sgt. P. Barrow and /Patrol Leaders Hawthorn an<! Jackson. Captain J. Colville Cook gave a few experiences of active service, after which prizes were presented to the Beaver Patrol, which came first^ in the patrol competitions, the Tui and Kiwi Patrols coming second, and Stag Patrol third. The King's Scout Badge, also the Pathfinders' and first-class badges, were presented to Sgt."P. Barrow, Patrol Leader E. Jackson also receiving a Pathfinder's badge, the presentations were made by the matron of the institution. Scoutmaster G. \Bell was highly complimented on the successful turn out fit his patrols. \
