SATURDAY'S GAMES
SENIOR
Marist v. Institute.
The Marist and Institute senior elevens again met at the Association Park, Kilbirnie, on Saturday, under good playing conditions, and a willing and interesting match resulted in the presence of a fair number of epectators. The grounds, were in splendid condition, and the executive committee of the Wellington Football Association has expressed itself as well pleased at the manner in which the shares for the retention of the park are being disposed of. The scheme promises well, and it is hoped that the ground will .shortly be declared freehold: Marist kicked off with the wind behind them, and play almost *t once went down to Institute's area, till the pressure was relieved by M'Lean (Institute's centre half), and forward play then carried the ball to-Marist's defence. Again Marist rushed the hall down field, and a shot was put in by A." Lowe, but was nicely turned by Hyder, who guarded Institute's goal. Some hot work ensued in this area, in which Bidgood, Marshall, and A. Lowe figured prominently, but no score resulted. Institute took a turn, and _ their forwards . carried play to Marist's end of the field, where Bell shot at goal, but was unable to get past Auld. Fine play on the latter's part gave Marist's forwards an opening, and from a good position Marshall sent in a drive, -which, however, struck the upright, and play returned to mid-field. An attack by Maris't led to' a scramble at Institute's goal, from which Bidgood shot from a fair position, Marist 1, Institute 0. Almost immediately after the recommencement of play, a' pretty piece of combined play by Marist ended ■by A. Lowe getting past Hvder with a left foot drive. Marist 2, "institute 0. In trfe second spell Marist again had Institute on the defensive till Bell relieved by a long line kick. IYom .the throw-in Guise took possession, and dribbled down ito Marist's goal area, and then passed on to Strickland, who shot a little wide. iA well-combined rush on the part of 'Marist took the ball to the other end of the field, and Cashman placed the leather in good position at the goal mouth, and Marshall headed through. Marist 3, 'Institute 0. A short spell .of mid-field play followed, until a Tush gave N. Lowe an opportunity. Marist 4,.lnstitute 0. iFalloon headed a rush for Institute, and Marist conceded a corner, but Institute was not able to improve on the opening. iTowardsthe end of the game.N. Lowe [was again successful at ft, shot at goal, 'raising the score to Marist 5, Institute 0. With play in Institute's half the whistle sounded for time. Mr. A. E. Wells controlled the game. - ,
