RETROSPECTIVE ALLOWANCES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l am very pleased to read that at last the Returned Soldiers' Association is taking up the matter of retrospective allowances. Too much is heard of the wants of the Second Division and not enough of those brave men who made the glorious name of "Anzac." Why did not the Second Division League form up from the first,. '. and safeguard the interests of those men who volunteered? It is well known that many men made sacrifices, but, of course, now they are told they should have waited their turn. What strikes one most is that the last man receives the best consideration in every way, as the benefits now obtained by the Second Division prove.. Tt is to be hoped .that the Defence Minister and his associates will recognise that juatico should be dona to the men who bore the brunt of Gallipoli.—l am, A MAIN BODY WIFE. 11th July.
