Quite a number of persons who undertook to make donations to the patriotic appeal fund opened by the Mayor of Blenheim some time after the war began have rot yet redeemed their promises. The subscriptions unpaid amount tv nearly £400. At the last meeting of the Marlborough Patriotic Society, Mr. A. D. Lee said it was very unfair to those who had paid that the credit due to them should be shared by thoso who were not entitled k> it. He thought that a list of corrections should be published. Ho moved thajt the names of those who had not paid b~e read out at the society's next meeting. Then they could decide what should be done. The chairman said it was the height of meanness to agree to contribute to. a wounded' soldiers fund, get all the kudos, and then dishonour the promise. It was decided to submit to the next meeting a list of the people who had failed to pay their subscriptions, with a. view of taking action in the matter.
