PETONE TECHNICAL SCHOOL BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Petone Technical School was held last evening. Present: Messrs. J, G. Castle (chairman), W. Cox, W. M'Kenzie, J. W." M'Ewan, and R. Jones.
The resignation of Mr. J. Wakeham from tho board was received, Mr. Wakehsm having resigned from the Hutt County Council, which he represented. The resignation of Mrs. Davie from the position of caretakor was received, and' Mrs. Wilson was appointed to the vaoant position. The secretary was instructed to send a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Davie for her services.
Tho director reported that the number of pupils on the roll of tho various classes was 621, and the average attendance 440; ■tho attendance considering all circumstances was satisfactory, aS at present & number have to work overtime. During tho month urgent repairs were required to the sewerage and hot water systems. There .was an increasing number of pupils taking up commercial subjects, and the; class in accountancy would enable the ablest and most earnest to go ahead.
