HAMILTON, This Day. Tho Supreme Court opened to-day. Mr. Justice Cooper congratulated the "Waikato district on its freedom from crime. There were only three criminal cases.
Charles Hansen and Lancelot Corbett, charged with theft arising from the shooting of steers while accused were on a pig-shooting expedition, were admitted to probation for three years. Much evidence was given of good character. His Honour said tho offence was almost inexplicable, and was evidently done in a spirit of mischief. Charles Downing, a youth aged 17, for breaking and entering at Hamilton, was admitted to probation for three years. Accused, a hard worker, spent his money and then commenced sleeping out. He had little to eat, and succumbed to temptation.
