OFFENSIVE EMPLOYS THREE-FIFTHS OF GERMAN STRENGTH
* ' {AUSTBALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 12th April, 10.30 p.m. . The United Press correspondent says: "Tho German pressure was ceaseless to-day from La Bassee to Hollebeke. The ten divisions with which the thrust began have now been doubled. _ About three-fifths of the enemy forces on the West front have been engaged in the offensive since 21st March, leaving between 70 and 30 divisions holding other sectors, only 60 of which consist of good fighting men. The British are hourly performing prodigies of valour, firing rifles until they a.re too hot to hold, and the artillerymen, stripped to the waist, are blazing at point-blank targets."
