The 35th Engineer and Infantry Reinforcements were inspected by Hie Excellency the Governor-General (the Earl of Liverpool) at Trentham Camp to-day. Advice was received to-day that 2nd Lieutenant I. Norriss, 6/701, was wounded in France on the 16th February. Lieutenant Norriss has seen 2i years' active service in Gallipoli and France. He left with the Main Body as a. corporal, and rose to the rank 6f warrant officer on the field. He came back in November, 1917, for a commission, leaving New Zealand again with the 28ths. He has been back in France since Ist December last. •Mr. S. Bryant, Chairman of the Makara County Council, has been .advised that his brother, John Ernest Bryant, of ithe 28th Reinforcements, was killed 1 in action, in France, on the Bth. instant. Private Bryant's death is keenly felt in the Ohariu and Makara districts, where, by his quiet, unassuming nature, he gained the respect and esteem of all. This is the third member of the Bryant family who has lost his life, while several have been wounded. Mr. Albert A. Spencer, president of the Auckland Employers'* Association, is a visitor to Wellington. A conference of representatives of agricultural and pastoral associations was held in Wellington this morning to consider the question of the incidence of the amusement tax. . It was decided to wait on the Minister, of Finance (Sir Joseph Ward) at 5 o'clock this afternoon, and put the views of the association before him. The Eev. C. J. Bush-King, Chaplain 4th class, has reported for duty with .the 35th Reinforcements. ' A sitting of the Conciliation Board was held in Masterton on Tuesday, to deal with the general labourers' dispute. Mr. Newton, the Commissioner, presided.
