LODGE MEETING

, The weekly session of the Pioneer Lodge, No. 11, was held at the Bechabite Hall, Manners-street. Bro. Warren, in the absence of the C.T., presided. One new candidate was received and duly initiated. The installation of the remaining officers, held ever from the previous week, was then proceeded with. Bro. J. Warren, D.C.T., was the installing officer. The following were the officers :—Bro. Rowe, guard; Bro. Shaw, sentinel; and-Bro. Trevithick, assistant secretary. A verbal report of the Harmony Committee was given and received. Sisters Richards, sen. and jun., applied for and were granted one month's leave of absence. Heports on sick members were submitted and received. A vote of sympathy was passed to the sorrowing family of the late Dr. H. D. Bedford, who was a very prominent figure in connection with the temperance cause. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter expressive of the lodge's very deepest sympathy. Bro. Petherick, G.Sec, paid a glowing tribute to the late professor and to his never-tiring energies in the cause. It was recognised, he said, that the temperance organisation had lost one of. its strongest pillars and the State and community one of its ablest citizens. A hearty vote of thanks wag passed to Sister Webb for her services as registrar during the previous quarter. The election of delegates to the District Lodge then took place, resulting as follows :-»-Regular, Sisters Webb, Warren, Elliott, and Dallas, and Bros. Cooke and Trevithick; alternative, Sisters Campion, Richards, sen., and Hyde, and Bros. Rowe, Petherick, jnn., and Warren. Under the "good of tho Order," a most interesting letter was received from Bro. Boundy, U.S.A., who, with his wife, were charter members of the Tua Marina Lodge, Marlborough, when it was founded in 1873. A question-box was then conducted, and various matters were dealt' with concerning the lodge and general topics of the day.
