THE TWO "B/s."
I 10 THE EDITOR. !. Sir, —The above heading may seem •omewhat of an enigma, to; a large number of your Wellington North readers, so with your kind indulgence I propose to explain it. I have endeavoured time and again to get a straight-put reply to some questions from Mr. Brandon, but he dodges and side-steps me every time. I have asked him two or three- times now for a manly, straight-out answer to straight-out questions, and he will not come to light. Why he cannot take the bona fide electors of Wellington, whose suffrages he is now seeking, into his' confidence (and who, I ask, have a better right to it?), especially in view of tho fact that there ie reason to believe that he has already given the answer to those self-same questions to the Wellington Licensed Victuallers' Association, ie more than I can understand.
■Mr. Brandon's reply to my questions is 'that they raise a side issue which should not be brought into general. politics ; but when that side issue was mainly, responsible for bringing Mr. Brandon into this contest, even he must admit that it assumes the appearance of being the main issue so far as he ie concerned. Will Mr. Brandon deny that he was approached by. an emissary of that organisation and asked the following questions : — "Are you in favour of voting for a repeal of. anti-shouting?" And. will Mr. Brandon deny that his answer was, Yes? Again, was. he asked : "Are you in favour of repeal of 6 o'clock.closing?" And, again, will Mr:. Brandon deny that his answer'was, Yes?- And, for the third and last time, will Mr. Brandon deny that he was asked: "Are you in favour of. three-fifths J (3-sths) majority vote?" And will bo deny that his answer was, Yes?
With the convincing evidence in front of me I am bound to admit that Mr. Brandon .should deal fairly with this rjatter.—l am, etc.,-
