CANDIDATES' MEETINGS

A -public meeting for ladies only will be held in the Kelburn Kiosk to-night in the interests of the National Government candidate, Mr. J. P. Luke. Addresses will be given by the Prime Minister, the Hon.,D. H. Guthrie, and Mr. J. Hutcheson. Mr. Luke's Men's Committee will meet to-morrow afternoon in the Committee Rooms on Lambton-quay. Owing to the Speaker ot the House of Representatives having informed Mr. Poison's Committee that it would not be permissible for a- speech to be made at R. J. Seddon's Statue, in front of the New Parliamentary Building, a meeting will be held at the Town Hall Concert Chamber to-morrow night, when Dr. Thacker and Mr. Poison will address the electors.

Mr.' Holland_ -will speak in St. Paul's Schoolroom, Tinakori-road, to-night, and in-the Masonic Hall, Bonlcott-street, tomorrow- night.

Mr. Brandon will address th 6 electors in. th 6 Northland School to-night. A meeting in support of the candidature of Mr. H. E. Holland was held in the Post Office-square at noon to-day. Mr. T. Brindle presided, and the speakers were Messrs. E. J. Howard J Thorn, and P. C. Webb, M.P. The'latter dealt exhaustively with the present high price of coal. He applauded the establishment of the State coal mine, and nrged the provision of State colliers and State distribution generally. Private enterprise was, he contended, ruining the coalfields of the Dominion.
