VOTES OF HULK-KEEPERS' WIVES
The secretary of Mr. Holland's election committee (Mr. P? Fraser) recently asked the Prime Minister, as head of the Electoral Department, to receive a deputation with reference to the disfranclnsement of hulk-keepers and their wives. The Prime Minister has replied that a deputation is unnecessary, as on the advice of the Solicitor-General hulkkeepers may be enrolled as seamen. Their wives may not be enrolled, and nothing can be done for them •in the matter of the by-election. The matter has received the Department's attention, and provision will be made to rectify the anomaly next session.
