ALLEGED UNLAWFUL USE OF INSTRUMENTS

AUCKLAND, 19th February. 'At the Supreme Court the jury tailed to agree jn a case against Hannah Dalton, on a charge of having used an. instrument or other means on one Vera Baker, with intent to procure abortion. At last sessions the accused was charged' with ' the manslaughter of Baker, and the jury, failing to agree, a new trial was ordered. The. present proceedings arc- on ari additional count. Peter M.'Farlane Dewar, health specialist, was committed for trial on a. charge, of counselling or procuring a woman to permit the use of an instrument.
