CHARGE OF ABDUCTION

WANGANUI, 18th February. At the Magistrate's Court, Allen Hector Loveridge, taxi-driver, a, married man, was charged with the abduction of a girl under eighteen years of age. The girl's mother said her daughter left home to go to a hockey meeting, but did not return. Nearly, three weeks later she got a letter from her. daughter saying, "Good-bye for ever. Don't look for me." As the result of certain information, witness, by apppintment, met the accused and her daughter near Wanganui, but the latter threatened to drown herself rather than return home. The girl eventually returned home in a pregnant condition. JThe case is proceeding.
