SOUTH AFRICAN BUDGET
A SURPLUS ANNOUNCED.

CAPETOWN, 17th February.
During his Budget speech the Minister for Finance (Hon. H. Burton), announced a surplus for the current year of £464,000. He estimated the.next year's deficit at £403,000, but expected this would be wiped'out without further taxation. The Minister emphasised the marked increase in the- production of foodstuffs and industries since the war 1.
