The Auckland District Counoil has is-" sued a circular letter to the looal unions, asking for the consideration of a proposal to appoint a central advocate, whose duty it would bo to conduct all disputes before the. Arbitration, Court. This proposal is not a new one. It has been mooted on previous occasions when the example of the employers has been quoted; but if it is to be put into practice with success it must be in combination with some scheme of a centralised office, where facts and statistics would be collected and assistance given in the preparation of Arbitration Court briefs.
