SOUTHERN GRAIN MARKET

(»T TEtEORAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

CHRISTCHURCH, 15th February. The extremely hot weather of the earlier part of the week has been succeeded by light southerly rain which will .cause a further delay in harvesting operations. •Most of the crop on the plains now, however, has been secured, but a "number of farmers have been waiting to thresh out of stook. b" Although very little wheat. is being offered in the city sales are being made fairly freely in the country. Deliveries are being made at the local mills, and the first shipment is being made to Auckland. A good deal of the wheat coming forward is off colour, but some of the lines are in excellent condition. : Oats are in demand, but very few obtainable at present.,' The same may■ be said of oatsheaf chaff, the price of whioh is now £4 to £4 5s at country stations for immediate delivery. There is no business doing in potatoes. Owing to the 1 unfavourable weather on Banks Peninsula for threshing cocksfoot there is very little of this seed yet offering from there.
