ASSAULTS ON CHILDREN

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your, issue of the 12th, "A Mother" but to hundreds of others, assaults on young children. Kindly permit me to point out, not only to A Mother" but to hundreds of others, that they themselves are not without blame in this connection. Why do they dress their children in the ridiculous manner they do? I maintain that a large proportion of the assaults are attributable to this cause. Again, do we not see little girls on the streets roaming at will, when they should be sleeping? When will mothers, exercise their authority? Were they to do their duty we should hear less of the trouble "A Mother " complains of.—l am, etc., 14th February.
