■■-. ■ LONDON, 28th . January. Sir Auckland Geddes, ■ Minister of' National Service, unexpectedly accepted "an invitation to speajt at a meeting of the Mersey engineers. He spoke for an hour and a-half, and then spent two hours in answering hecklers. His patience and candour impressed the crowd, and he received an \ ovation at the close of the meeting, although a resolution against the man-power proposals was carried.
