THE STRIKE IN BUDAPEST
INNER CITY HELD BY SOLDIERS

AMSTERDAM, 27th January, The Berliner Tageblatt ■ states that the genera] strike in Budapest commenced on the morning of the 18th. Bosnian reserve soldiers, with machine guns, surrounded the inner city, _ and strongly occupied all the '■ bridges. The strikers massed in the outer portions of the capital were not allowed to enter the inner city. Street traffic was entirely suspended, and the shops were closed. " *■-
Thirty members of the Labourers', Soldiers', and Students' Union were arrested before the strike. /'
