The greater amount of the industry of the world is upheld by the desire of every man —white, yellow, and black— to possess a home of his own, and thiß fact is but another interpretation \of ' the axiom ."it's love that makes the Iworld go round." Consequently no avocation has more branches of manufacture, art, and science contributing to its existence than the house furnishers. The home life of a people foretells, to a great extent, their future national history, and "as a house-furnishing store contains the embryo of hundreds of homes (for their can be no home without furniture), it is fitting that in our review of 'Levin due notice be taken of the Furniture Warehouse of Messrs. Harvey and Co., in which is displayed everything- that goes toward the embellishment of the modern home. So comprehensive is the stock in this . popular establishment that it would be really difficult to single out any article as being more worthy than others of comment. Dining, drawing, and bedroom suites are shown in styles ranging from plain but substantial varieties to examples of furniture production of a very elaborate character, each and every article bearing the hall mark of well-finished, reliable workmanship ; and the embodiment of good taste. Carpets, linoleums, rugs, bedroom sets, fenders, fire-irons, and almost every household requisite is stocked by Messrs. Harvey and Co. and sold at prices that cannot be excelled for moderation in any part of the Dominion. If it should be necessary to demonstrate this fact, there is one excellent manner of doing it. That is by, a personal visit, when the wide range of :the stocks: displayed throughout the. premises may be seen, prices compared, and' the visitor will speedily be convinced that the statements made in this article are correct in every detail. In addition to the manufacture of furniture the firm are also extensive building contractors, and many of the more important public and private buildings throughput the districts of Foxton, Shannon, Otaki, and Levin have been erected by them. Plans are prepared by Messrs. Harvey and Co., and estimates for all manner of builders' work is given and undertaken in any part of the district. An extensive factory at the rear of the big furniture showrooms is replete with all the latest and most up-to-date machinery for the construction of doors, sashes, and joinery of every conceivable description. Undertaking is another . branch of : Messrs. Harvey and Co.'s business^ and it may be said to those whom misfortune overtakes that the firm are thoroughly competent to direct funerals on the most approved principle in any part of the district. Their methods are such as to inspire implicit confidence where such services are, unfortunately,, required.
