CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS
TRIED BY COURT-MARTIAL.
A trial by court-martial -was held at Trentham Camp to-day," when Ptes. Daniel Brosnan, Howard Hopkins, and Wm. M'Keuzie, of ' Details, were arraigned on charges of refusing duty. Major D. W. Talbot was president of the court, the other members of which wero Capt. R. J. Seddon and Lt H. M. Clark.
The three men, who declined to parade, had, they declared, conscientious objections to military service. They were of various denominations, ono describing himself as ». Roman Catholic, another a. Socialist, and the third a Freethinker. Hopkins also, as an Englishman, objected to the principle of conscription. After heariug the evidence the court said the decision would be announced later in camcorders.
