CUP WON BY CHORTLE. (11l TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 3rd November. The Avondale races opened in fine, oppressive weather. Despite the restricted facilities for transit the attendance was large. The amount passed through 1 the totalisator was £28,890 10s, against £26,054 10s on the corresponding day last year. The course was in good order. Remaining results:— Avondale Cup, of 750 soys; one mile and a-quarter.—2 Chortle, 9.9, 1; 14 Sir Ralph, 6.8, 2; 1 Glenopal, 7.7, 3. Also started: 6 TO3.
