PUBLIC MEETING AT INVERCARGILL.
IST TELEGRAPH.—PEESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL, 2nd November. In response to a request from the District Labour Council, th 6 Mayor convened a public meeting, -which was attended by about 100 people to-night, to discuss the increase in the cost of living. A motion was carried viewing -with alarm the continued increase which is a. national calamity, making for inefficiency and physical degeneration of the present and future generations of workers, and calling ort the Government to make such reductions that the efficiency of the workers and rising generations may be assured and maintained.
