AIRMEN OF BOTH SIDES BUSY SUCCESSFUL BOMBING OPERATIONS (Received November 3, 9 a.m.) „._.„. LONDON, 2nd November. bir Douglas Haig reports : Taking advantage of the change in the weather on Wednesday, our aeroplanes and the enemy's were in the air all day but the visibility was not very good, and artiljery work was hindered. Many photographs were taken and much bombing was done \>y our machines. Aeroplanes co-operated successfully with an infantry raid north-east of Loos, firing several thousand machine-gun rounds and bombing the troops in the communication trenches. Five tons of bombs were dropped at Roulers, causing fires and explosions, and on many billets. A further five and a-lia]f tons were dropped at night • on aerodromes in the neighbourhood of Courtrai, the aerodrome at Gontrode and the railway stations of Roulers, Thorout, and Courtrai. • ' ENEMY RETURN OF AEROPLANE LOSSES (Received November 3, 11 a.m.) v x , t„. ■_ : AMSTERDAM, 2nd November.
