I , LONDON,- 24th July. General Richardson, C.8., C.M.G:, was present at Cod ford last "Wednesday, when the soldiers of the. Command Depot held a boxing, wrestling; and military tournament. The principal interest of the' meeting was in the boxing, and General Richardson warmly congratulated all concerned on'the success of the meeting. Australian, Canadian, and British troops from surrounding camps at. tended in force. iThe following are the results: — ■ Boxing. Novices' Feather-Weight: Private Pengelley (C Co;, 8.10) defeated Corporal Jenkins (Otago, 9.0) in a, single round. The referee stopped the match to save Jenkins, who is very game, from unnecessary punishment. . The Light-weight Novices were not allowed to box, on doctors' orders. In the Welter-weight, Private Hayhurst (Auckland, 10.7) defeated Bugler JRevell in three rounds. In the Middle-weights, Private Stack (D.E.C., 11.6) defeated Private Woodgate (Auckland, 11.2) on points. In the Heavy-weights, Private Blucher (Auckland)' beat Private Morrow (Auckland) on points. Corporal Dickson, of the gymnastic staff (11.3) won from Private MacFarland (Canterbury, 11.6) in the second round on a foul, which was obviously unintentional. Private Spearman (Canterbury, 8.11) had a walkover in the Feather-weights, but boxed one round with Private Nroholls (Hosp. Co., 10.12). In the, Light-weights, Spearman had another walk-over, but had to box Private Revell, who had had enough of it m half a round. Private Hayhurst beat Private Dorset* (Wellington, 10.4) in the open welterweights after three rounds. MacFarland had a walk-over in the Light Heavy-weights, but sparred three rounds with Private Gus Venn (Wellington), the feather-weight champion of New Zealand, which.was very much enjoyed. Wrestling. In. the wrestling for heavy-weights (Cumberland style), Private Grant (Otago) gained two falls against Private Smeliie (Auckland) in seven minutes, and' ' Private Morrow two falls against another competitor in ten minutes. Grant won the final against Morrow after a very good bout. In the Light-weights,. Private Longshaw (Dunedm) beat Private Clarke (Auckland), and in the final beat Private Dorset (Wellington). Catch-as-catch-can, . Bight-weights : Private Grant beat Private. Morrow. Light-weights: Private Dorsett beat Private Longshaw on points. Bayonet Competition (one n.co. and 20 men). —Auckland Co. 1, Canterbury 2, Wellington 3. Physical Drill. —Rifle Brigade 1, Canterbury 2, Wellington 3. Bombing Competition.—Auckland 1, Wellington 2, Canterbury 3. Tug-of-war.—Maoris defeated Auckland after a hard pull by a few inches, i An obstacle ra-ce, in which the gymnastic staff were compelled to take part, was ■won by Corporal Dixon, with Corporal Lewis second.
